RP engineer

The role
As a Radiation Protection Engineer, you will be working on one of the Netherlands’ leading nuclear projects: the PALLAS reactor. You will ensure that radiation protection is an integral part of the design, construction and implementation.

You will operate at the intersection of engineering, safety and regulation. You will review designs, contribute ideas for improvements and ensure that all decisions meet the highest standards of radiation safety. During the construction phase, you will be present on site and carry out verifications to ensure that the design holds up in practice.

In addition, you’ll make a significant contribution to safety analyses and reports for the regulatory authority (ANVS). You’ll liaise with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders, ensuring that everyone applies the same standards.

In short: you’re the connecting factor that ensures radiation protection is right — from design to implementation.

Your profile
You are someone who takes ownership and thrives on collaborating in a complex project environment. You are able to communicate technical content clearly and engage easily with different disciplines. You also bring the following:

- A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field;
- Demonstrable knowledge of radiation protection (SBD-CD or TMS VRS-C is a requirement);
- Several years’ experience in radiation protection;
- Preferably knowledge of safety analyses and design assessments;
- The ability to identify risks and respond to them proactively;
- A keen eye for quality, safety and detail;
- A good command of Dutch and English;

The team
NRG PALLAS: three sites, over 1,100 colleagues, one goal: to use nuclear technology to contribute to better healthcare and a more sustainable world. Our activities:
_Medical Isotope Solutions;_ produces and develops isotopes for medical applications.
_Nuclear Energy Services;_ provides services for the safe and reliable operation of nuclear facilities.
_PALLAS Programme;_ a dedicated, multidisciplinary international team of specialist engineers is working on the realisation of the PALLAS reactor. We are building this unique, state-of-the-art multifunctional nuclear reactor at the Energy & Health Campus in Petten. The HFR is also located here, which currently supplies medical isotopes.

You will be part of the PALLAS Programme’s Engineering team and will work closely with specialists in the fields of radiation protection, design, quality and construction. Together, you will ensure an integrated, safe and future-proof reactor design.

Collaboration is central to the team: everyone contributes their own expertise, but the shared goal always comes first. You will report to the Design Control Manager for Radiation Protection and help foster a strong safety culture within NRG PALLAS.
