Within Consultancy and R&D (research and development), we combine consultation with substantive research. We work on practical and policy-related nuclear issues. The focus is on knowledge development and knowledge sharing in order to strengthen the sector, for ourselves, the Netherlands, and the rest of the world. This ensures knowledge remains the driving force behind everything we do at NRG PALLAS.

How we share our knowledge

The field is broad. You will work on licences, safety, technical analyses, and radiation protection, and you will support project supervision. Your expertise in consultancy and R&D will ensure that reactors continue to operate safely and that we implement medical applications responsibly. What is it that we are working on? Medical sector 

Our medical isotopes are used to treat over 30,000 patients every day. This must be done safely. That is why we offer advice to hospitals that work with our radioactive substances. For example, on additional security measures in the workplace and protecting employees. We also conduct research into how the substances behave in the body.

Existing reactors

We check existing reactor installations to ensure that they are still operating safely. We detect wear and tear or weak spots at an early stage, thereby preventing hazards. We carry out tests in our own testing facilities so that we are always fully prepared.

Extended service life of installations

Some reactors or installations need to operate longer than planned. We investigate the possibilities by assessing the technical condition, licences, and potential risks. Is everything safe? Only then do we green-light the extension.

New reactors

When new reactors are built, we are involved from the initial design stage. We assess safety and risk management and assist with permit applications. This ensures that new installations start up safely and continue to operate safely.

Growing in your role in Consultancy and R&D

Within Consultancy & R&D, you will have the opportunity to develop in the direction that suits you best. Due to the specialised nature of the work and the unique environment, you will start with an extensive onboarding programme. You will practise using new systems, acquire substantive knowledge, and receive guidance in the workplace. After that, you can progress to positions such as team leader or project manager. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the design of our research programmes. This way, your knowledge keeps growing, which enables you to contribute to the advancement of the nuclear industry.
